Delicious Diary Entry - My Diary Review!

                                                    Delicious Diary Entry
"A healthy dose  motivation with a twist"

1.  Eating healthy does not mean you have to be perfect. Just make good choices most of the time. Then have a pizza!

2. In our book club reading, liquid calories were part of the cause of Julie's weight gain. She never included them in her food diary, so she couldn't see the problem.

3. You can drink soda everyday or you can lose weight, but you can't do both. Decide what means more to you.

4. If sweets are your weakness leave them at the grocery store. You can't eat what's not there.

5. Knowledge is power, but not without action.

Lifestyle change of the week!
If you are having a problem losing weight even though you are exercising and trying to eat healthy, look more closely at your choices. You might be drinking more calories than you realized, and eating more sugar than humanly possible.

"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

1. Get rid of temptation in your house. Food can't tempt you if it's not there, unless you go looking for it and find it.

2. Read labels to see what you are eating. Remember, the information is per serving not per box.

3. Drinking plenty of water helps with weight loss. Stay well hydrated so you don't dry up and blow away.

4. Ten seconds is just enough time to think again. Take ten seconds before you eat the wrong food. Give yourself time to reconsider, make a different choice or eat it anyway.

5. When you know better you do better, or so they say.

Motivating Tip
Be honest with yourself about what you eat, how much you eat and what's really in the food you eat. Being brutally honest is the first step toward change.

Delicious Diary Entry - The Scary Scale!

My name is Ms.Delicious Diary, and my job is to see how my clients are really doing when it comes to their weight loss journey. My favorite clients are Super Size-It Sally and Low-Calorie Lucy, along with their close knit group of friends. They all have their own way of dealing with their issues, and the funniest nicknames to prove it, as you will see when you read their diary entries each week. I hold the key to the diary in this special little green bag. My fingers are itching to unlock the diary, see their weight loss or gain, and check their delicious food diary entries.

Dear Diary: The Scary Scale!

Super Size-It Sally:

Sweet-Tooth Twinkie was celebrating her weight loss with what else? Twinkies! Her favorite food and the reason she gained all her weight in the first place. She loves all things sweet, but she is trying to have more control of her huge sweet tooth. She has lost 15 pounds as of her last weigh-in. She got a wake-up call when she went to the doctor and he told her she was pre-diabetic. She knew she had to do something fast. Now instead of keeping boxes of twinkies in her house, she has to make a special trip to the store to get one, and most of the time it's just not worth the effort. That little trick has saved her from eating hundreds of calories in twinkies. It all comes down to the tricks you know. Now that she is losing weight, she is the first one in line to get weighed. She use to avoid the scale like the plague, now you can't get her off of it.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Fruity-Tootie has a sweet tooth for fruit. She loves any kind of fruit, especially when it's in season and at it's peak ripeness. Even in the off season she enjoys frozen fruit, which can be as good, or even in some cases better than fresh fruit. She makes some of the best desserts with fruit. It's amazing the difference in calories of a fruit dessert compared to other desserts, and they are every bit as satisfying. A fruit dessert may have 100-200 calories. A non-fruit dessert may have 400-1000 calories, not to mention the fat. She has a big sweet tooth but she has learned there are different ways to enjoy desserts without packing on the pounds. She refuses to eat desserts that are loaded with calories for a few minutes of pleasure, although she will on special occasions. She doesn't want to spend hours trying to burn it off so it's better not to eat it in the first place. It's just not worth it to her. No wonder she doesn't have a weight problem, she has a good strategy that works for her. But, it wouldn't work for everyone. She weighs herself every week to make sure her weight is not creeping up without her knowing it. She doesn't like surprises!

Lifestyle change of the week!
Knowledge is power. When you know how much you weigh you can use that knowledge to lose weight. When you weigh yourself weekly, that tells you if what you are doing is working.

Motivation Series: Drink Up!

                                                     Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

What's clear, has zero calories and is very refreshing to drink? Water! Water is so good for you and all your organs, including the largest organ - your skin. And, if you are trying to lose weight it becomes as good as any super food. It can actually help you shed pounds, clear out toxins and quench your thirst all at the same time. The age old advice on drinking eight glasses of water a day is still the accepted amount. So stay hydrated by making it a point to drink plenty of water during the day. When it comes to water, this water is worth it's weight in gold!

Motivating Tip
Keep a water bottle in sight as a reminder to drink up. If you have it right there in arms reach you are more likely to drink it.

Motivating Quote
"Water, it's good to the last drop"

Delicious Diary Entry - Change Your Mind!

My name is Ms. Delicious Diary, and my job is to see how my clients are really doing when it comes to their weight loss journey. My favorite clients are Super Size-It Sally and Low-Calorie Lucy, along with their close knit group of friends. They all have their own way of dealing with their issues, and the funniest nicknames to prove it. I hold the key to the diary in this special little green bag. Dear Diary: Change Your Mind!

Super Size-It Sally:

After the coaching session, Soda-pop Susie told us to meet her at the car. We were all wondering why? Did she have something special to tell us? It turned out to only be special to her. She had found a great sale on soda pop, all flavors, every size and color. She went crazy in the store when she saw the sale and bought a trunk load. Now she wants to offload it on us, like we really need it. She doesn't want to go home dragging bags of soda, especially right after a coaching session. What would her husband think? His first thought might be that the coaching sessions are not working. I mean what kind of denial do you have to be in to think you can drink liquid sugar everyday and still lose weight?  She just can't seem to kick that bad habit.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Whistle-Tea Wilma learned the hard way how much weight you can gain drinking soda everyday. At one point she was addicted to them.  One day after reading an article on how bad those sugary drinks really are for you, she decided to try and cut back just a little. Before she knew it, she was starting to lose some weight. She knew that was the only thing she had changed recently. So, she took it a step further and cut back some more, then a little more until eventually she was only having one occasionally. She didn't just cut back, but she replaced it with something healthier, hot tea- green, black and moringa tea. She found out they were loaded with all kinds of health benefits with zero calories. Now we call her Whistle-Tea Wilma because if you go to her house on any given day, you can expect to hear that tea pot whistling away. And when she offers you something to drink, it won't be soda, it will be tea!

This Week's Topic: Do This, Not That!

                                                           Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Do This:

1. Eat a real breakfast, not  breakfast in disguise.

2. Read labels to see what's really in that pretty little package.

3. Check the calories in restaurant food before you order it. It's too late after the fact.

4. Healthy on the front package doesn't mean healthy inside - proceed with caution.

5. Eat your heart out on healthy food.

Not That:

1. Don't eat bad food dressed up to taste good.

2. Don't believe everything you see, read the ingredients. Remember, when it comes to ingredients, it's first come first serve. The ingredients are listed in the order they appear in the food.

3. Don't eat then ask questions later. Know before you go. Check restaurant websites for calorie count.

4. Don't be fooled by the healthy food pictures on packages. It turns out pictures can lie.

5. Don't eat food just because it taste good. Make sure it is also good for you.

Motivating Tip
Some foods look healthy, smell healthy and taste healthy, but are just the opposite. In that case, if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, it's really a horse.

Motivating Quote
"A muffin is really cake in disguise."
