Motivation Series - Monthly Review!

                                                          Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

1. If you think you would die without fast food, imagine that same food killing you.

2. Liquid calories add up even if you never count them. Your body is smart enough to keep track.

3. Put on your big girl pants and take baby steps to eat right and exercise.

4. No matter what we tell ourselves, eating more calories than we burn always puts weight on. You know you are eating to much when you are gaining weight. That's how you know, without anybody telling you. Cut back to start losing.

5. Life is one big ball of choices, and at the end of the day it's all those little choices that tell your personal story.

Motivating Tip
When you make new choices you will end up with a whole new life. That's all it really takes to get it right. The only other choice is not choosing.

Motivating Quote
"The choice is yours unless you choose to plead the fifth."

Delicious Diary Entry - My Diary Review!

                                                   Delicious Diary Entry
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

1. Do as I say not as I do doesn't work for a weight loss coach. You have to lead by example.

2. Diets stop working the minute you stop working them. That's why they don't work.

3. Scale back on your eating to love the number on the scale. Weigh yourself once a week and watch the numbers go down.

4. The scale is usually not broke even when we feel like breaking it. Make it your best friend that always tells you the truth.

5. Eating the right kind of food in the right amount, will keep you on target. Even too much healthy food is bad.

Lifestyle change of the week!
Eating healthy and regular exercise is the best diet of all. Anything else is a short term fix for a long term problem.

Motivation Series - Grow Up or Grow Out!

                                                            Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Grow up or grow out was a bumper sticker I read on the car in front of me sitting at a red light. After giving it some thought and trying to find the meaning in it, I realized it was talking about our eating habits. We have to put on our big girl pants and grow up when it comes to our food choices. We can't eat junk and wonder why we are gaining weight. We are smarter than that and this is not rocket science. When we eat healthy we look healthy and feel healthy. When we eat bad food, we look bad and feel bad. Funny how that works!

Motivating Tip
Growing up is hard to do but someone has to do it. When it comes to food we have to make grown up choices based on nutrition not just what taste good. There is no reason to eat bad food that taste good, when we can eat good food that taste even better.

Motivating Quote
"Grown-ups choose good health over a happy meal."

Delicious Diary Entry - My Coaching Session!

My name is Ms. Delicious Diary and my job is to see how my clients are really doing when it comes to their weight loss journey. My favorite clients are Super Size-It Sally and Low-Calorie Lucy, along with their close knit group of friends. They all have their own way of dealing with their issues, and the funniest nicknames to prove it as you will see as you read their diary entries each week. I hold the key to the diary in this special little green bag. My fingers are itching to unlock the diary and see their weight loss or gain, and check their delicious food entries.

Dear Diary:  My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Our coaching session was going to be hard today and we knew that going in. It was obvious from the start just by watching the body language of everyone as they walked in, in slow motion dragging their food diary behind them. Even Fast- Food Fanny was moving slow as a sloth. It was time to review our diary for the week and get on that dreaded scale. I hate that scale, it's always broke and they refuse to fix it, at least that's what I tell myself. My food diary had a few minor omissions but I'm sure I'm not the only one. Our coach told us last week "if we bite it, we write it" I had just one question for our coach - what if you can't write? She did not see the humor in that question.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

I just couldn't do the coaching thing today, I was fed up with counting calories, weighing-in, and writing down every morsel of food I put in my mouth. For once I would just like to eat what I want and not have to pay the consequences, or think about what's in it. I really don't care today, I just want to eat. So, while everyone else is jumping on the big bad scale band wagon, I am eating up a storm with huge portions on the biggest plates I can find, and I'm not writing what I'm biting because I'm too busy eating!

Lifestyle change of the week!
It helps to treat yourself as you try to lose weight. Having a cheat day can help you stay on track the rest of the week. But, Keep your treats small so you don't have to where your treats every where you go.

Motivating Quote

Motivation Series - Do This, Not That!

                                                          Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Do This:

1. Drink water instead of sugary drinks. Save thousands of calories in a week.

2. Replace soda with hot tea, it's healthier with zero calories.

3. Skip the juices they are loaded with sugar. Have lemon water instead.

4. Keep your glass half empty unless it's water. See it as half full.

5. Liquid calories are a big problem on the scale.

Not That:

1. Don't let sugary drinks ruin your weight loss goals.

2. Don't add calories you don't chew.

3. Don't drink liquid syrup disguised as juice.

4. Don't fill up on the wrong drink, they will fill you out.

5. Don't hope to lose weight if you are drinking your weight in calories.

Motivating Tip
Look at what you drink everyday to see where you can make some healthy changes. Calories add up fast when they are in liquid form, and go down even faster. Save your calories for food, you can eat more and weigh less.

Motivating Quote
"Liquid calories add solid weight to the scale."

Dear Diary: My Book Club Chat!

Super Size-It Sally:

Page 19 reads - Tina said she was gaining weight faster than she lost it. What happened to that diet that she swore by for a year. She did not change anything, she eats the same, with the rare exception of her favorite treat - Ding Dongs, a whole box. Still, she thought as long as she walked an extra thirty minutes that would take care of that. Not so, she is in denial if she thinks that's all it would take to work off those fat calories. I told her diets don't work for the long term, they promise you the world but then leave you hanging, literally......

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Page 20 reads - It's not fair, why can't I eat like my sister, she eats whatever she wants and doesn't gain a pound. I look at food and there goes my thighs, expanding with each glance. She never exercises, never. I feel like I gain weight while I'm exercising, I just keep getting bigger. They say don't worry it's just muscle, but I don't believe them, it all looks like fat to me. Then they say don't worry about the number on the scale, you are still losing inches, I don't believe that either. Something just doesn't add up.....

Lifestyle change of the week!
The latest research shows diets don't work long term. And most people who go on these diets will gain the weight back within two years. Why? One reason is because most diets are hard to maintain forever, and that's what it takes to keep the weight off. A person will have more success if they are willing to replace their lifestyle with a healthier one, rather than replacing it with a new diet.

Motivation Series - Home Sweet Homemade!

                                                      Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Imagine a world without fast food, fancy restaurants and drive- thru windows. What would you do, how would you eat, what would you eat? My guess is you would cook at home, eat at home and be healthier for it. Cooking at home is fast becoming a lost art, a thing of the past. We tend to think grocery shopping means going by the drive-thru window, and our grocery list is the menu. What ever happened to going to the grocery store with our list in hand and our week of meals planned out? What ever happened to getting in our very own kitchen and rattling some pots and pans. Whatever happened to cooking a delicious healthy meal for ourselves and our family. In todays world there has to be a special occasion for us to not only bring out the pretty dishes, but turn on the stove. Let's get back to basics, when families cooked at home every night and ate out on special occasions. Why not make everyday a special occasion with a delicious homemade meal you cooked with your very own hands, in your very own home sweet home!

Motivating Tip
Try cooking a meal tonight, keep it simple. Write a list of groceries you will need, swing by the store and pick them up. Some stores even offer a drive-thru call in and pick up service for your groceries, how is that for a drive-thru? Then, get in that kitchen and turn up the heat. In no time at all you will fill your house with all the smells of homemade cooking you could never get at a drive-thru window.

Motivating Quote
"Homemade is the best way to have it your way."

Dear Diary: Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Our coaching started on time with a refreshing change from the normal boring start. We actually had coffee and donuts, what a surprise that was. We all just had one question, why? Why are we eating donuts at a coaching session to lose weight? Well, as it turns out we were celebrating a mile stone, our coaches upcoming retirement. This was a shock to all of us, we thought she would be here forever and even live forever, she just looked the part. She was hard core and a no excuse coach, and yes she did rub us the wrong way at times but we knew she meant well. Now we are all wondering who is going to replace her?

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Sometimes change is good, and in this case it is especially true. We all love our coach but she seemed to be tired of coaching. She didn't seem to be dedicated to her work, and I don't really think she was enjoying it anymore. And, to make matters worse, she was gaining more weight than we were. That is always a bad sign, when the weight loss coach is gaining weight it is time to stop coaching.

Lifestyle change of the week!
If your coach is gaining weight, don't be discouraged. It just confirms the fact that anyone can gain weight if they eat more than they burn. The same rules apply to everyone, no one gets a free pass when it comes to weight. There is a universal rule to losing weight, eat less move more.
