Motivation Series - January Band Wagon!

                                                         Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Are you planning to jump on the January band wagon? The wagon will be leaving on January 1, 2015. Each year people all over the world declare they will get fit starting in January. And each year they don't. What happens to the hopes and dreams of losing weight and getting healthy? This is what we call temporary motivation - it's temporary because it only last as long as the new year is still new. After the newness wears off so do the dreams, and all efforts to get fit are off the table. Which usually means we return to our normal eating habits and inactive lifestyle. But, that too is temporary because we will get the chance to do it all over again the next year, on January 1, 2016!

Motivating Tip
Motivation is key to losing weight and keeping it off. When you are motivated, there will be no stopping you any month of the year. But, you need more than the new year to keep you motivated, especially when what's new is old again. Motivated2Move provides that motivation not just in January, but every day of the year!

"Let the band wagon leave without you"

Delicious Diary Entry - My Coaching Session!

"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

My name is Ms. Delicious Diary and my job is to see how my clients are really doing when it comes to their weight loss journey. My favorite clients are Super Size-It Sally and Low-Calorie Lucy, along with their close knit group of friends. They all have their own way of dealing with their issues, and the funniest nicknames to prove it as you will see as you read their diary entries each week. I hold the key to the diary in this special little green bag. My fingers are itching to unlock the diary and see their weight loss or gain, and check their delicious food entries.

Dear Diary:  My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Our coach asked us all to do an experiment for two weeks. She said to replace one meal each day with soup. Homemade soup is best, but we could use can soup as long as it's low sodium and broth based. If we use regular can soup, we could add a peeled potato to the soup while heating it to help absorb some of the sodium. The problem with a lot of can soups is there is too much sodium in them. One can will have over a 1000 mg of sodium, so using a potato will help remove some of that sodium. She reminded us that too much sodium in our diet can lead to high blood pressure because it causes our body to retain fluid, increasing the blood volume which in turn increases our blood pressure. We all agreed to try it, we had nothing to lose but sodium and weight, and that was a good thing.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

After eating soup for two weeks and feeling like I was going to float away, it was time to weigh in to see if it worked. I was so excited to hop on that scale because I felt like I lost a few pounds based on the way my clothes fit. So, as I closed my eyes and stepped on the scale, I looked down and saw I was four pounds lighter. It worked, and I was so happy because it wasn't even hard to do. I wasn't hungry all the time, in fact I felt full after having soup. I plan to continue to replace one meal with soup most days of the week.

Lifestyle change of the week!
When you replace one meal with soup you save yourself hundreds of calories a day. Add that up at the end of the week and you will have saved thousands of calories. The result is weight loss!

Motivation Series - Do This, Not That!

Do This:

1. Move every chance you get and then some. Use a pedometer to track your steps. To get extra steps - park far from the store, walk stairs twice, circle grocery store before shopping.

2. Stand rather than sit, it's better for your body. You can stand while talking on the phone, have a standing meeting, or stand while on the computer.

3. Walk in place, dance during commercials on T.V. take a brisk walk in the fresh air.

4. Find an activity you love to do and do it often. If you are not sure what that might be, try new things until you find it.

5. A body in motion is a beautiful thing, so remember to keep it moving!

Not That:

1. Don't look for ways to move less, look for ways to move more.

2. Don't sit it out when you could dance, stand or move.

3. Don't forget to move your feet, they really were made for walking.

4. Don't be inactive, it's bad for your health and can shorten your life.

5. Don't tell yourself you are too tired to move, moving will give you more energy.

Motivating Tip
All your steps add up at the end of the day, week and year. Even if you don't keep track your body does. The more you move the more you will want to move. The more weight you will lose and the better you will feel.

Motivating Quote
"A body in motion will take you places."

Dear Diary:  My Book Club Chat!

Super Size-It Sally:

Page 23 reads - My door bell rang this morning but I wasn't expecting anyone. When I answered the door there was a lady standing there with a big smile on her face. I stared at her for a moment and then realized it was a friend I hadn't seen in years. I invited her in but was still a bit shocked, the last time I saw Julie she was at least 50 pounds lighter, and I wondered what happened to her. She use to be so thin, now she looked more like me. I wanted to say - what have you been eating, but I managed to stop myself before putting my foot in my mouth.......

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Page 24 reads - I guess we all gain weight the same way, eating too much and not exercising enough. Even if we are thin now, when we start to get a little older our bodies change, and if we keep eating the way we always ate we will gain weight. Julie gained weight because she not only kept eating the same, but she also stopped exercising. That is a recipe for disaster, eating more and exercising less. The only way to turn that around is to start eating less, and exercising more......

Lifestyle change of the week!
Even if you don't see the new weight, the scale will. It's easy to gain weight and not even notice it until your clothes start to get too tight. The best way to keep track of your weight is to weigh yourself once a week, then adjust accordingly.

Motivation Series - The Power of You!

                                                           Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

You, is a powerful word! There is no one quite like YOU in the whole wide world. You can decide who you will be, how you will live and set standards for your life and health. No matter where you are now, you can change it all with the power of one decision that you make. Even if you have always done things a certain way, developed habits that you don't like, or struggled with eating and exercise, you can start to change all that today. You are in charge of you, and the only person you have the power to change is you. That is a powerful thing because it means you can take that power and create the life you want. You don't have to wait until someone else decides to make changes for you, you can do it for yourself. It's your life and you can live it your way. You may have heard there is power in numbers, but I'm here to tell you there is power in YOU!

Motivating Tip
You can do it! If you only knew how powerful you really are you would be amazed. To test your own power, start by doing something you are afraid to do. Doing that will get the ball rolling on all the things you are capable of. When it comes to your health, you have the power to make your very next choice a healthy one, then repeat often!  YOU will see your power and realize it's been there all along. Once you tap into it the rest is history.

"Your power is waiting on YOU"

Dear Diary:  My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

It was pouring rain when Chip-Bag Betty showed up for our coaching session today, it was just about over, but as she said better late than never. She is always late, rain or shine. Our coach was right in the middle of handing out our challenge for the week, it's going to be a hard one. We are suppose to stop eating by 7pm every night. That's when I am just getting started, I don't even eat dinner until 8pm, is she trying to starve me to death? I am going to fail this challenge on the very first day.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Polly-Popcorn is looking fit as ever as she stuffed her mouth full of her air popped popcorn, She swears by that stuff and eats it everyday. She even likes our new challenge because she is already doing it, she never eats after 7pm and just before she stops eating for the night she loads up on her popcorn to help hold her over to the next day. Sounds like a good strategy but I wouldn't want to do it.

Lifestyle change of the week!
Having a good strategy for eating is the way to lose weight. One way to find what works for you is to try new things. We are all different, with different lifestyles and the key to losing weight and keeping it off is to develop a strategy that is easy for you to practice daily. Because remember, it's what you do most of the time that shows.
