Motivation Series - Monthly Review!

                                                           Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

1. What are friends for, give some of your calories away by sharing a meal.

2. Start today by making one healthy choice, keep adding to that choice with another healthy choice, then watch what happens.

3. To stay ahead of the scale, plan your meals ahead of your hunger.

4. The January band wagon has left the building. It will return next January1,2016.

5. Two ways to eat less - start with less on your plate or don't clean your plate. The results are the same.

Motivating Tip
There are lots of ways to eat less, the key is finding what works for you and your life.
Life is nothing more than trial and error. The only way to know what works for you is to try something new. If it works keep doing it, if it doesn't work try a new approach.

Motivating Quote
"Eat your weigh to good health"

Motivation Series - One Pound!

                                                         Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

One pound on any scale is 3500 calories. To lose one pound in a week you would need to cut 500 calories a day. To cut 500 calories may not be as hard as you think. If you just cut things in half that will more than do the trick. Instead of eating a whole sandwich eat just half, then have a piece of fruit if you are still hungry. Drink only half of your drink, or better yet replace it with water. Put half as much on your plate, and skip dessert half the time. When eating out give half of your food away by splitting your meal with a friend. If you eat half as much, only half the time you will not only lose those 3500 calories, but you will be half way there to a healthy weight!

Motivating Tip
When you are trying to lose weight more is not better. By eating half the amount of food you will not only lose weight, but you may find out that's all you need to feel full. Despite what your mother told you, you don't have to clean your plate. The whole truth is half is better, because most of us eat more food than we need or could ever use in a day. And just because we ate it doesn't mean it's gone, it shows up on the scale.

Motivating Quote
"Half the problem with losing weight is cleaning your plate."

Delicious Diary Entry - My Coaching Session!

                                                        Delicious Diary Entry
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

My name is Ms. Delicious Diary and my job is to see how my clients are really doing when it comes to their weight loss journey. My favorite clients are Super Size-It Sally and Low-Calorie Lucy, along with their close knit group of friends. They all have their own way of dealing with their issues, and the funniest nicknames to prove it as you will see as you read their diary entries each week. I hold the key to the diary in this special little green bag. My fingers are itching to unlock the diary and see their weight loss or gain, and check their delicious food entries.

Dear Diary:  My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Our coaching session was very helpful today. The information hit me like a ton of bricks. Our coach read something to us that started off like this - it doesn't matter what you tell yourself about food that let's you over eat. The only thing that matters is you are over eating, period. All the excuses in the world won't change that. So, don't waste your time looking for excuses or logic, just change it. If you think you are eating less or eating better but are still gaining weight, that means you need to take it up a notch. Keep improving your eating habits, and exercise often. That combination is how you lose weight. Doing one without the other is pointless for long term weight loss.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

I think our coach was sick of all the excuses, she had heard everything by now and it was all starting to sound the same. She said there is a million ways to say the same thing, and it's already been said. She said sometimes we just think way too much about a problem. When she said that, I thought is she talking to me? It sounded like me, that's what I find myself doing. I spend more time thinking about why, and not enough time just doing something about it. A light bulb went off!

Lifestyle change of the week!
Get out of your head and don't over think it. Losing weight is not complicated, it's a numbers game. Eat more calories than you use, you'll gain weight. Eat less calories than you burn, you'll lose weight. All the diet plans in the world come down to that.

Motivating Quote
"Thinking it out is not the same as working it out."

Motivation Series - Do This, Not That!

                                                         Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Do This:

1. Start today to take care of your health, make your next choice a healthy one.

2. Start today to exercise, take a brisk walk, climb some stairs or just dance.

3. Start today to develop good habits, eat more fruits and vegetables.

4. Start today to think health not weight, it's one in the same.

5. Start today, there is no better time.

Not That:

1. Don't put off taking care of your health. It's now or never.

2. Don't get up in the morning to sit down all day. You could have stayed in bed.

3. Don't do things out of habit unless they are good habits. That's a habit worth repeating.

4. Don't worry about your weight, focus on your health. A healthy weight will follow.

5. Don't say I'll start tomorrow. Today was tomorrow yesterday.

Motivating Tip
Do something today that gets you moving in the right direction. Then add to that by doing something else that keeps you moving in the right direction. Then repeat that something again and again until you arrive in the direction you were going, and then you will find yourself there!

Motivating Quote
"There is no better time than the present to start today."

Dear Diary:  My Book Club Chat!

Super Size-It Sally:

Page 25 reads - I really thought I would be able to keep the weight off this time. I was determined to show everyone I could do it, Jane cried as she poured her heart out to her best friend. Her friend has been with her through all her ups and downs, good times and bad times, weight loss and weight gain. But, she secretly knows that if Jane is ever going to lose weight, she has to do it for herself not for any other reason. In the past she just wanted to prove something to everyone else, instead of proving  it to herself.  I am her friend and don't want to upset her, plus I have my own battles with weight so who am I to talk.........
.
Low-Calorie Lucy:

Page 26 reads - Blah! Blah! Blah!, it all starts to sound the same as I listened to the new weight loss commercials on T.V. Cindy was tired of all the talk about how you could lose weight super fast, super easy, and eat super good food while doing it. And wait there's more, you don't even need to exercise. Cindy had tried them all and wasn't going to fall for that anymore. She knew deep down inside there was really only one sure way to lose weight and keep it off - eat less and move more. Everything she ever read, no matter how it's said comes back to that basic thing - eat less, move more. I hate it when they are right...........

Lifestyle change of the week!
It's not enough to know what to do, you have to want to do it and for the right reason. We all know to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you eat during the day. So what's the problem? In this case, knowledge is not power unless you use it. There are a lot of ways to eat less and move more. The trick is to find a strategy that works for you and your lifestyle.

Motivation Series - Plan Ahead!

                                                           Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

If you plan to succeed in weight loss, you need to plan ahead! That can make the difference between eating a Big Mac or a bowl of soup, and the difference between that is a whopper. When you plan your meals and snacks ahead of your hunger, you can control what you eat. When you wait until you are hungry to decide what to eat, everything starts to look delicious even when it's not. Successful people think ahead, plan ahead, and eat ahead of their hunger, that's how they control their weight. Making better choices is just easier to do when you are not so hungry you could eat the kitchen. Planning ahead puts you ahead of the game, in the drivers seat, and can make or break your weight. So, as you plan to lose weight don't forget to always, always plan ahead!

Motivating Tip
Planning your meals is easier than you think. Start by making a list and checking it twice, then take a few hours to prepare your meals for the entire week. Always have healthy snacks on hand and in your purse, never be caught without them. Keep fresh fruit on the counter where you can see it, you are more likely to eat it. Out of sight out of mind is a fact, so keep healthy snacks in your eye sight and hide the rest!

Motivating Quote
"Food for thought means planning ahead."

Dear Diary:  My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Sweet-Tooth Twinkie ate her way through a box of twinkies for the last time as she starts the new year. She told our coach she has a plan to eat fruit instead when she wants something sweet. I can't wait to see how long that last. Chip-Bag Betty plans to buy only small bags of chips instead of the huge bags she usually buys. The coach said that was an improvement as long as she doesn't eat enough little bags to make a huge bag. Mary-Mac &Cheese refuses to even try and stop eating her favorite food, she has failed so many times she refuses to try anymore. Soda-Pop Susie knows the soda she drinks everyday is nothing more than liquid syrup, but it's a habit she can't seem to break, nor does she want to. I plan to downsize my meals to smaller portions, I figure since I don't really plan to exercise much that's the least I can do.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Our coach listened intently to every ones big plans for the new year. She tried not to judge us, although the look on her face as she listened reminded me of a judge that was not happy and was going to throw the book at us any minute. I think she thought we were all in denial, or maybe just didn't get it. She said if you want to lose weight and get healthy you have to change what you have been doing that got you here in the first place. You can start small, but eventually you will have to make some big changes to see results, otherwise you are just kidding yourself.

Lifestyle change of the week!
No one can change you but you, It's an inside job, literally, and that's the good news. The bad news, when making changes it can feel uncomfortable. That's a big part of change and should be expected. After all you are not use to the change yet. Realize what you have been doing is not working for you, then do something different. The nice thing about change, over time it will get easier and then and only then will you be able to return to your comfort zone.

"Change me if you can."
