1. Sitting around hoping to get healthy is like smoking and wishing for healthy lungs. It's not a good fit.

2. The first step in losing weight is lose the mind-set that got you there.

3. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables in season instead of foods that have to be preserved with chemicals so you can eat them out of season.

4. Sitting disease is the word coined to describe a modern day problem in the making. Sitting more than you move is a health hazard.

5. Everything you do starts with the way you think, so start there.

Motivating Tip
Sitting around eating foods loaded with chemicals and hoping to end up healthy is a hazard in itself. The first step in getting healthy is eat more fresh fruits and vegetables in season. Then get rid of the mind-set that cause the problem in the first place. Everything you do starts with you and the way you think, hoping that will change on it's own is wishful thinking. You have to get up out of the sitting position and go get healthy!

1. Stand when you can, sit less to improve your health.

2. Diets only work temporarily, because they are just temporary.

3. Even if you over eat today don't make it a habit tomorrow.

4. Your feet were made for walking, so step it up.

5. Empty promises to lose weight fast are empty for a reason. They are full of hot air.

Lifestyle change of the week!
To change your lifestyle stand more than you sit, skip the diets and don't over eat. Tomorrow start walking to improve your health and don't listen to empty promises of fast weight loss. If the air is too hot today step it up tomorrow.

Motivation Series - Sitting Disease!

The sitting disease is the new buzz word in the health world. That's because it has come to the attention of health professionals that sitting all day is a real health hazard. When you sit all day, everyday at work or home it can be as bad for your health as smoking, that's right, smoking. That's what we call a real wake-up call and one that can't be ignored. Everyone knows smoking can kill you, but it is news to the general population that sitting all day can kill you too. If you think about it you can see why - sitting too much slows everything down to a crawl in your body, things stop moving, become sluggish and can clog up, causing health problems. So get up often and if that is not possible then at the very least, move your feet up and down to move your calf muscles, that will help get the blood back to your heart. Our bodies were made to move so do it often to keep the blood flow flowing, the heart pumping, the kidneys flushing, the liver churning, the muscles flexing, the fat burning, the lungs expanding and you healthy!

Motivating Tip
When you move everything inside you moves with you. When you stop moving everything inside you comes to a dead stop so don't stop for long, keep it moving!

Dear Diary:  My Coaching Session!


Super Size-It Sally:

Our coaching session was different today, it started with all of us just standing there with no chairs in sight. We kept waiting for the coach to tell us what was going on, where did all the chairs go? She said we are going to try something new today to help us be healthier. I thought to myself, okay but can I have a chair now I'm already tired of standing. Our coach told us we can talk while standing just as easy as we can sitting, but standing is better for the body. We had our entire coaching session standing and when it was all said and done, I was ready to sit down on the floor.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

It's been two weeks since our last session and I find myself standing and moving more and more. It's amazing how once something is brought to your attention that's when you focus on it and start to change it.

Lifestyle change of the week!
There are a lot of things we do each day sitting that could just as easily be done standing and even moving. Look at your daily routine and see what changes you can make to move more and improve your health!

Do This:

1. Build yourself up to take your weight down. It's all about your mind-set.

2. When you are mentally strong, nothing can stand in your way.

3. Get your mind right and your body has to follow, it has no choice. Your mind is running the show.

4. Motivate your mind to get your body healthy, fit and fantastic!

5. Feed your mind on all the right stuff, then watch all the right stuff happen.

Not That:

1. Don't get weighed down with negative thoughts, it will drain the energy you could use to get healthy.

2. Don't think you can't when you know you can. We know you can too. Think positive.

3. Don't forget a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Feed it right to get it right.

4. Don't settle for a unhealthy body when you can have a fantastic one.

5. Don't forget you are what you eat and what you read.

Motivating Tip
A motivated mind is a powerful thing, and a body that is motivated2move can't be stopped. Keep it in tip top shape by feeding it a weekly dose of motivation with a twist, it works every time!

Page 35 reads: Life is short and I refuse to spend another minute wasting my time on diets that don't work. Barbara was fed up with empty promises like - you will lose 10 pounds in 10 seconds, you never have to exercise, you can eat all the junk you want and never gain a pound, the weight will just melt right off, even I know that's not possible. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. But for some strange reason I find myself trying it anyway. I feel like what do I have to lose besides weight, and I do lose weight for a while until it all comes back madder than ever......

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Page 36 reads: Trina knows from experience that crazy diets come and go but one thing that always works is healthy lifestyle changes. It's a numbers game, if I no longer eat enough calories to support the weight I am today, I will start to lose weight. I have seen it happen. But, on the other hand if I eat enough calories to keep my current weight then I won't lose any, it will stay the same. It has been steady for the last month so I guess that means I need to reduce my calories a little more...

Lifestyle change of the week!
To lose weight start by cutting back a little on everything you eat and drink. Try leaving a couple of bites of food on your plate and a swallow or two in your glass. Do that enough times and you will cut calories and won't even miss it, except on the scale.

Motivation Series - Eat Fresh!

Summer is here and that means one thing - Eat Fresh! Eat fresh fruit, fresh vegetables in season and full of flavor. There is no time like summer time to get juicy, delicious mouth watering fruits and vegetables at their peak. You can make a salad toss it in a bowl and eat till your hearts content. You can add nuts, throw in some beans or top it with feta cheese to give it that yummy factor. You could even warm it up with a hot dressing then cool it down with diced cucumbers. And if you are really creative you could make a meal out of it by adding grilled chicken, sautéed shrimp or strips of marinated steak cooked to perfection. Now, put that in your mouth and chew it!

Motivating Tip
A easy way to shed some weight is to shred some lettuce then add vegetables. Top it with fruit and add a yogurt dressing. The varieties are endless and so are the calories you will save. Make a dinner date with a salad you prepared with your own two hands then eat up!

Super Size-It Sally:

Our coaching session was almost empty today. It was just me and Crockpot Kate, and she was late as usual. It was like everyone planned to skip the session today but forgot to tell us. The last thing in the world I wanted was to be the only ones there because that meant the coach would seize the opportunity to focus on our food diaries and it was not going to be pretty. I had a good weekend, or depending on who you ask, a bad weekend. I went to a BBQ and ate anything with sauce on it, as long as it wasn't moving. I tasted all the desserts and even took a plate home for the next day. I was bad but it sure was good!

Low-Calorie Lucy:

There are a lot of temptations in the summer to over eat on the wrong food.  That's why I have a strategy in place. What I try to do if I'm going to a cookout is eat something before I go. I will usually have some soup or salad which gives me a head start on feeling full, then when I get there I am cool as a cucumber, I'm not starving but in total control. Then I can pick and choose what is worth the calories, and what's not worth coming near my taste buds. It's all about strategies ladies, it's all about the strategy.

Lifestyle change of the week!
Think ahead, plan ahead and eat ahead of your hunger. Stay in control of what you eat so you don't eat like you are out of control. Don't let your hunger control you, show it who is boss!
