Motivation Series - Eating On The Run!

                                                          Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Don't eat on the run when you can sit and stay a while. We live in a fast paced world where taking time to cook and eat a nice home cooked meal is being replaced with fast food that can't get here fast enough. Times have changed and so have our minds when it comes to eating. It no longer seems strange to eat on the run, order and go, drive-up to the drive thru, chew on the run, or even eat a meal so fast you didn't taste a thing. That is our new normal that isn't normal at all. What ever happened to planning a meal, gathering your food then cooking up a storm in your very own home sweet home?

Motivating Tip
There is something very satisfying about eating a meal that you prepared with your own two hands. You know how much fat, calories, sodium and sugar is in it because you prepared it yourself. You put some time, thought and care into your meal because you are more than worth the effort and you know it. Knowing that, makes you want to stop eating on the run and pull up a chair and stay a while!

Motivating Quote
"Run to the store, cook, then eat your heart out."

"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

My name is Ms.Delicious Diary and my job is to see how my clients are really doing when it comes to their weight loss journey. My favorite clients are Super Size-It Sally and Low-Calorie Lucy, along with their close knit group of friends. They all have their own way of dealing with their issues, and the funniest nicknames to prove it as you will see as you read their diary entries each week. I hold the key to the diary in this special little green bag. My fingers are itching to unlock the diary and see their weight loss or gain, and check their delicious food entries.

Dear Diary: My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Our coach wanted us to try a thirty day experiment to see if it would work for us. She was trying to help us prepare a plan that made it easier for us to not just lose weight but keep it from coming back and bringing friends. She said a well known secret that works is to know what you are going to eat before you want to eat it. That was a simple concept but when she said that, a light bulb went off in my head. If I prepare healthy food and snacks for the day, I won't end up eating junk food that packs on the pounds, it was that simple.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Sometimes we think losing weight is this big bad problem that can't be figured out, it's not. When you take out all the fluff, all the science, all the hoopla, all the excuses, all the reasons, all the pills, all the diets, all the lies we tell ourselves, what's left is the big bad truth - eat less, move more. You can't keep weight that you no longer support.

Lifestyle change of the week!
If you eat less and move more you will lose weight. The only question left to ask is how are you going to do that? Once you find the answer that works for you, there is only one thing left to do, do it!

Motivating Quote
"Food for thought, chew on that."

Do This:

1. Take one day each week to cook your meals and prepare your snacks for the week. Use your Crockpot, the stove top and the oven all at the same time.

2. Prepare your mind for success by reading a daily dose of motivating, encouraging and inspiring quotes and personal stories. Our blog is a good place to start.

3. Preparation is key to a week of successful eating and weight loss. Having a plan then working the plan leads to results.

4. Think ahead of your hunger so when it strikes you don't have to think about what to eat because you have already thought about it and are prepared.

5. Prepare, Prepare, Prepare!

Not That:

1. Don't wait until you are hungry to think about what to eat, it's too late. It's hard to make healthy choices when your tummy is doing the thinking.

2. Don't forget to keep your mind focused on your weight loss goals by reading motivating material. Motivated people are determined people.

3. Don't leave weight loss to chance, chances are you won't lose.

4. Don't think it's too hard to prepare for your hunger, it's harder when you don't.

5. Don't fail to prepare if you want to succeed!

Motivating Tip
Preparing ahead of time makes all the difference in what you eat, which in turn makes all the difference in your weight, which in turn makes all the difference in your health! Which is why preparation makes all the difference in the world!

Motivating Quote
"The pre in preparation is the key."

Dear Diary: My Book Club Chat!

Super Size-It Sally:

Page 45 reads: Karen said she was going on a hunger strike. She was so tired of the weight she couldn't lose, the food she couldn't eat and clothes she couldn't wear. She thought maybe if she just stopped eating altogether that would solve the problem once and for all. But she knew that was a desperate move on her part, maybe even a cry for help. She told her best friend Lisa she just didn't know how she gained all this weight or even when it happened. She didn't even see it coming...

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Page 46 reads:  Weight can just creep up on you before you know it. It happens every time you eat something for energy but then don't use the energy. So it goes into storage until you are ready to use it, but if you never use it, it just keeps adding up until your storage unit is full...

Lifestyle change of the week!
Think of your body as a storage unit. You only have so much room in the unit to store things. To keep your storage unit from getting too full, you need to take some things out every time you put some things in. The Things you put in is food, the things you take out is calories used for energy. To get just the right amount in your storage unit, don't put more things in than you take out.

Motivating Quote
"Don't over stuff your storage unit."

Motivation Series - Prepare Ahead!

                                                     Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Prepare ahead of your hunger if you don't want your hunger to take charge. When you prepare in advance you can think clear, make healthier choices without your hunger getting in the way. It can be compared to going shopping on an empty stomach, you want to buy everything in sight because your hunger is taking over your shopping cart. It's the same way when you try to find food when you are starving, anything will do, you don't care at that point what your choices are, you just want to choose something and choose it fast! So, to avoid that little scenario prepare your meals ahead of that almighty hunger so when it calls you already have the answer.

Motivating Tip
To make better food choices all week, take one day to cook all your meals. You can take a couple hours to cook one meal, or use those same hours to cook several meals at the same time and be done with it. Smart!

Motivating Quote
"Prepare ahead so you don't fall behind on the scale"

Dear Diary: My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Our coaching session was very encouraging today, we talked about any and every thing that was on our mind. We were honest about how hard it is to lose weight and keep it off. We talked about our favorite foods and Sweet-Tooth Twinkie admitted she had ate a pack of twinkies she had stashed in her glove compartment of her car just before showing up for our session. It's an on going battle for her with sweets. Chip-Bag Betty loves her chips, that is her food of choice - salty and crunchy. Fast-Food Fanny is addicted to the drive-thru window and anything they can pass through it super-sized and super fast. Soda-Pop Susie drinks her favorite drink in her weight every week and it shows, but she just doesn't care anymore. Mary-Mac & Cheese drowns everything she eats with cheese. They all have their problem foods, but they know the food is not the real problem.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

I turned my problem food into problem solved when I took one food that I wanted to stop eating so much of and replaced it with a healthier option. What I discovered when I did that was it wasn't very hard to do, and I could keep doing it to change my eating habits. Now three years later, I wonder why I was eating that way in the first place when there were so many tasty healthier options available. Where did I really think all those calories, fat and sodium were going? Just because I ate it, didn't mean it was gone, and I didn't have to look far to find it. As a result I have lost weight and kept if off all while still enjoying delicious food everyday. Now I think to myself, what was all the fuss about?

Lifestyle change of the week!
Changing the way you eat doesn't have to be hard, in fact it can be easy as one simple swap after another until you know longer eat the way you use to. And as a result your weight will change too.

Motivating Quote
"Change is good, healthy food makes you better."
