And each year they don't. What happens to the hopes and dreams of losing weight and getting healthy? This is what we call temporary motivation - it's temporary because it only last as long as the new year is still new. After the newness wears off so do the dreams, and all efforts to get fit are off the table. Which usually means we return to our normal eating habits and inactive lifestyle. But, that too is temporary because we will get the chance to do it all over again the next year, on January 1, 2016!
