Motivation Series - Monthly Review!

                                                              Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

1. Go and have some fun, it's good exercise.

2. Getting started is half the battle, then it's all down hill from there.

3. Don't weight around, spring into action.

4. If fast-food was too slow we would all eat at home.

5. Get up, get moving, get going!

Motivating Tip
Half the battle is to go as long as you can, but don't stop and pick up fast-food because it will all go down hill from there. You are better off if you eat at home, then spring into action and have some fun, why weight?

Motivating Quote
"Go, going, gone. Go while you can."

Delicious Diary Entry - My Diary Review!

                                                        Delicious Diary Entry
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

1. If junk food is free for the taking, don't take it. Even if they give it away it's really not free. Your health will pay.

2. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Support a friends efforts to get healthy.

3. Denial is like looking in a trick mirror and standing on a broke scale. It's not reality.

4. Eating too much of a good thing makes it bad, and that's not good.

5. Don't put temptation in every cabinet and then try to resist it.

Lifestyle change of the week!
If your friend is trying to lose weight and get healthy, that means she is not in denial and her scale is not broke. She is not eating too much of a good thing and has removed all temptation from her house. She is no longer buying donuts by the box or eating them just because they are free. She has found her most precious asset - good health, and would never sell it, trade it or give it way for free!

Motivating Quote
"Your good health, ends with bad choices, that's the ugly truth."

Motivation Series - Ready, Set, Go!

                                                              Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Ready, Set, Go! There are so many things you can go do - take a walk, go for a run, dance your heart out, hike a hill, ride a bike, swim a lap, or go to the gym. The most important thing is you just Go. Go somewhere and do something, anything to get yourself ready, set, to go! We all have to go sometime, that's what keeps us healthy. We are happier when we go often and it doesn't even matter if we go slow, as long as we go. Never stop going, go until you are gone, that's the only way to live!

Motivating Tip
If you haven't gone in a while, we suggest you go slow. Then you can pick up the pace as you go more and more. It doesn't matter what you decide to go do, as long as you go do something.

Motivating Quote
"Even if you have to stop and go, that's better than not going at all."

Delicious Diary Entry - My Coaching Session!

                                                          Delicious Diary Entry
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

My name is Ms. Delicious Diary and my job is to see how my clients are really doing when it comes to their weight loss journey. My favorite clients are Super Size-It Sally and Low-Calorie Lucy, along with their close knit group of friends. They all have their own way of dealing with their issues, and the funniest nicknames to prove it as you will see as you read their diary entries each week. I hold the key to the diary in this special little green bag. My fingers are itching to unlock the diary and see their weight loss or gain, and check their delicious food entries.

Dear Diary:  My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Sweet -Tooth Twinkie brought twinkies to our coaching session today. Who does that? Aren't we all here because we have been eating too many twinkies to begin with. Our coach was not amused, she asked her what she was thinking. It turns out she wasn't thinking at all. She was just trying to get rid of some of the twinkies she bought on sale, it was a good deal she just couldn't pass up. So, now she wants to pass on that good deal to us. But, it's not a good deal for us because it's not going to help us reach our goals.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

I think when people know you are trying to eat better and lose weight they should respect that. Not make it harder by offering you food you are trying to avoid. We have enough temptation all around us - on every corner, in every cabinet, in every other commercial. Food is everywhere so we don't need our "friends" handing it to us on a silver platter.

Lifestyle change of the week!
Be a good support system for someone who is trying to eat better and change their lifestyle. Try eating healthy with them, avoid eating junk around them. Offer to split a meal with them to help them cut calories. Suggest a walk while you talk, instead of sitting down. Burn some calories while having fun and helping a friend. That's a win, win!

Motivating Quote
"Friendly food for thought."

Dear Diary:  My Book Club Chat!

Super Size-It Sally:

Page 29 reads: I looked in the mirror and  just could not see what other people saw. It was like I was looking in a trick mirror, the kind they put in stores when your shopping for clothes to make you look thinner. Everyone said I had lost weight, but when I looked in the mirror I couldn't see it. When I weighed myself the number on the scale was down, but I thought the scale was broke. Even my clothes were in on the conspiracy, they didn't fit the same, they were too big and hanging off me. What was going on, when I saw myself I saw the same over weight person.......

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Page 30 reads: Amy had the opposite problem when she looked in the mirror. For the longest time she didn't know she was gaining weight until she saw a picture of herself in a family photo. She couldn't believe it was her, maybe the camera was broke or out of focus, she secretly thought. Or, maybe she really had gained weight and didn't see it coming. Is it really possible to gain that much weight and not know it? She didn't have the answer, but the proof seemed to be in the picture........

Lifestyle change of the week!
Sometimes seeing is not believing, and sometimes pictures don't lie. Weight has a way of packing on the pounds before we know it, feel it or even see it. That's why it's a good idea to weigh-in before the weights on. Once a week is a good rule of thumb. Keeping you ahead of game and the scale!

Motivation Series - Do This, Not That!

                                                               Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Do This:

1. Start small with tiny steps, then step it up.

2. Start small by changing one bad habit for a better one.

3. Start small by making one meal, one drink, one portion healthier than the last one.

4. Start small by standing up more than you sit down.

5. Start small it's the finish that matters most.

Not That:

1. Don't stop when you could go. Keep moving.

2. Don't do things out of habit if you haven't thought about it.

3. Don't eat the fastest food you can find.

4. Don't sit all day, it's bad for your health.

5. Don't forget to get started.

Motivating Tip
Get started with very small changes that can add up fast. To see the results you want repeat those little changes everyday. When it comes to weight loss, it's all the small things we do often that shows.

"It's the start that stops most people"

Motivation Series - Spring Into Action!

                                                        Motivation Series
"A healthy dose of motivation with a twist"

Spring is just around the corner and that means we get to shed our coats, boots, hats and all things winter. The big question in the room is - did we shed the weight? If not, there is still time to spring into action. Why not give it your best shot for the next six weeks. No excuses, no delays, and no starting on Monday. If you set your mind to it, you could be well on your way to not only shedding that big over sized coat, but that extra winter weight right along with it!

Motivating Tip
Spring into action by giving yourself a six week challenge. Challenge yourself to see just how active you can be. Look for ways to keep moving, take extra steps and get that heart rate up. Then, add to that healthier eating with smaller portions. That combination will have you light on your feet and ready when Spring has sprung!

Motivating Quote
"Put a spring in your step and get moving"

Dear Diary:  My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Our coaching session was going along just fine until Mary Mac & Cheese announced she was giving up cheese forever. She said the only way she could stop eating her favorite food in the world - Mac & Cheese, was to just stop eating cheese altogether. Our coach told her that was not the best way to approach the problem because it's not good to totally eliminate any food. It might be better to allow yourself to have it once a week as a treat. But don't set yourself up for failure.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Sometimes when we are having a hard time with eating too much of a good thing, we might be tempted to go cold turkey and just stop eating that food altogether. That method might work for some people, but for most it is a recipe for disaster. For most of us the minute you make something off limits, that's when you simply cannot live without it. It is easier if we try to limit it instead of eliminating it completely. A few ways to do that is by buying that food in smaller pre-portioned packages. Not storing it in your house at all is another way to limit how much you eat. Then, when you want it you have to go to the store and buy it every time, and that is more trouble than it's worth. Keeping it out of arms reach makes it harder to get and will limit how often you eat it.

Lifestyle change of the week!
Keeping temptations out of sight will help you keep them out of mind. That in turn will keep them out of your mouth and off the scale. Make your home food friendly but temptation free. Making it easier on yourself by setting yourself up for success not failure.

Motivating Quote
"Don't be tempted to eat yourself out of house and home."
