1. Breaking a bad habit is easier when you replace it with a good habit.

2. Start with the right mind-set, be determined and don't let anything stop you from reaching your weight loss goals. Prepare ahead for obstacles, then you won't stumble.

3. Remember to eat mostly healthy because it is what you do most of the time that shows up.

4. Small things add up big time. Keep adding good choices to more good choices.

5. Determination is a mind that won't be deterred. Stay focused on a healthy lifestyle change. Life is good when your you have good health!

We all need a good old fashion pep talk from time to time. Especially if we find ourselves in a slump we can't seem to get out of. When we are trying to change our lifestyle to a healthy one, we may need a pep talk every Monday just to get us through the week. If you want more pep in your step, a pep talk can do the trick. It can get you out of a weight loss rut and put you on track to shed weight like nobodies business but your own. In fact we believe so strongly in good old fashioned pep talks that we suggest you start the day with one before you even get out of bed.

Motivating Tip
To give yourself an instant boost, be the master of your own pep talks. Remind yourself that you are strong, smart, determined and very capable of setting goals and reaching them, no sweat! You can eat healthy, exercise and lose weight, no problem! You can do what ever you set your mind to because you are just one pep talk away from good old fashion success!

Dear Diary: My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Our coach had bad news for Soda-Pop Susie, her next experiment would be to give up her daily soda habit for an entire month. Her first thought was - that's impossible! She would have to replace this bad habit with a good habit, like drinking water with lemon instead. That did not sit well with Soda-Pop Susie, she said she would rather die than give up her soda. The coach said, well if you keep drinking sodas like water, you just might get your wish.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

That was some session we had, it was straight talk that needed to be said. No more watering it down, sugar coating it, mincing words or side stepping the truth. It's now or never, take it or leave it, do or die. Our coach wanted us to get our act together before the act is over. She put it all on the line, those are the choices, pick one!

Lifestyle Change of the week!
Some times the truth really hurts, but it's that pain that can lead to a lifestyle change that changes everything. If it's hard to swallow, then swallow hard and make the change. You will be glad you did.

There are a ton of ways to lose weight, but the best way is to focus on your health not your weight. If you decide to improve your health by eating better and exercising the weight will come off. It is impossible for extra weight to hang around when you no longer support that weight with a unhealthy lifestyle. Weight knows when it's not wanted, it can take the hint. By changing your habits, especially your eating habits you are in affect telling that extra weight to go take a hike because you will not keep feeding it's bad habits. Instead of setting a goal to lose weight, make it your mission to improve your health because that's how you lose weight and keep it off!

Motivating Tip
If you take care of your health you won't have to try and lose weight, it will just happen naturally. Make it your mission to eat better, exercise more and limit junk food, then good health will be a piece of cake!

Super Size-It Sally:

Our coach said until we get our mind-set right, it will be difficult to lose weight and keep it off. Chip-Bag Betty found this news very hard to swallow, especially with a mouth full of chips. All this time she thought it was her poor eating habits that was the cause of her weight gain, but it turns out it's not that at all. So, to celebrate she decided to leave the session early and stock pile her favorite chips before the coach changed her tune. She better hurry!

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Sometimes we really do hear what we want to hear. I'm sure the coach did not mean it's just fine to load up on chips when you are trying to lose weight. What she meant was, start with your mind-set to change your eating habits not your eating habits to change your mind. When you have a healthy mind-set you won't want to eat a constant diet of junk food, and that's what makes it so easy to do. It's always easier to do the things you want to do.

Lifestyle change of the week!
Since everything we do starts with the way we think, we should start there. If we want to eat healthy and exercise, feeding our minds on healthy reading that motivates and informs us will change our thinking. Exercising our minds on the benefits to our bodies from living an active lifestyle will get us moving in the right direction.

Super Size-It Sally:

Page 43 reads: Another day another donut, what's one more donut going to hurt? Liz thought to herself those same thoughts for years and just couldn't see the accumulative affect it had on her. To her it was just one donut, but when you add that to all the others she ate, it was a real problem that didn't exist in her mind. In fact, in her mind there was no problem at all, she was just fine weighing a hundred pounds too much, it had become her normal so it felt perfectly normal to her.....

Low-Calorie Lucy:

Page 44 reads: Liz is like so many people who just can't see what's right in front of them. They don't know what all the fuss is about when it comes to weight. What's the big deal, it's just a number. You get use to it after a while and don't even notice it much. Until someone looks at you like you have two heads, then you wonder what's wrong with them?....

Lifestyle change of the week!
Carrying extra weight is a personal issue, but if you want to get rid of it then the first step is to acknowledge it's there. It's hard to change a problem if we don't see a problem. Once you decide you want to lose weight, the one thing you can do today is to start thinking you can, then you will. Then downsize big time, start cutting back a little on everything you eat, just leave a few bites on your plate and watch it add up. Add extra steps to your day and you have a plan you can live with.

Do This:

1. Start the day on a positive note. The message in your head will show up all day.

2. Be that girl on a mission that won't give up on herself. Keep going and refuse to stop no matter what.

3. Losing weight is possible when you change your mind-set before you change your diet.

4. It's hard to stop a girl on a mission from reaching her goals. She believes she can so she does.

5. Be determined to take special care of your health. Just do what you can until you can't.

Not That:

1. Don't think negative if you want to have a positive day.

2. Don't think you can't when you know you can lose weight and get healthy.

3. Don't change your mind after you decide to change your weight.

4. Don't stop setting little goals if you hope to reach the big ones.

5. Don't let your health go if you plan to stay.

A big girl knows her worth and believes she is worth the effort to take care of her beautiful self. She is determined to reach her goals and refuses to give up. She realizes she deserves to bring the best version of herself to the world. There is no one else like her, she is one of a kind!

Dear Diary: My Coaching Session!

Super Size-It Sally:

Mary Mac & Cheese arrived at our coaching session dragging her bag of cheese behind her. She said it was her way of making a statement, she wanted to make it public that she was giving up her love of cheese for life. I'm thinking to myself - haven't we heard this sob story before? If I remember right she gave it up before for all of one week. Our coach told her then not to give it up completely, but try cutting back on it instead. But she is a all or nothing kind of girl. Our coach told her it sets her up for failure and makes it almost impossible to do long term.

Low-Calorie Lucy:

When I heard what the coach said about all or nothing thinking, it rang true for me. I use to be that way and paid a hefty price for it. I was over weight and miserable and just couldn't seem to get it together. My coach helped me to see that I was hurting myself with that kind of thinking because you don't allow for any wiggle room. It's another way of saying you have to be perfect and that's not possible. She encouraged me to keep trying to do a little better than the day before. Doing that would mean I was always trying to improve but not trying to be perfect and that should be good enough.

Lifestyle change of the week!
We all have a food we love and might even feel out of control when eating it. But it doesn't mean we have to give it up completely. Try cutting back by making it harder to get. If you have to go to the store every time you want it, you won't eat it nearly as much. Or buy in pre-portion sizes, even try keeping it in a frozen state so you have to thaw before eating. That delayed gratification just might be all the time you need to think again and maybe even change your mind. These are just a few tricks of the trade that work!
